Kaycee Swierc (she/her) is a director and producer currently pursuing her MFA in Directing at Carnegie Mellon University (Class of 2026) as a John Wells Fellow. The CMU Drama Program is ranked #4 globally by The Hollywood Reporter and recognized as a "New Ivy" by Forbes. Her recent projects include Much Ado About Nothing (Assistant Director, American Players Theatre), Half World (Workshop Director, East Village Basement), Epiphany (Workshop Director, Florida Atlantic University), and Gloria (Director, Carnegie Mellon School of Drama). She is currently directing Hurricane Diane at Carnegie Mellon and will serve as Assistant Director for Disney’s Frozen and the regional premiere Dear Evan Hansen at The Muny.
Previously, Kaycee was the Special Assistant to the Artistic Director (Diane Paulus) and the Executive Team at the American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) at Harvard University, where she worked as an assistant director on the Tony Award-winning Jagged Little Pill (Broadway and North American Tour) and WILD at A.R.T. She also contributed to major productions including 1776, Waitress, and Becoming a Man. In addition to her work at A.R.T., she served as a season casting director and producer at the National Women’s Theater Festival, overseeing over 50 plays. Her previous directing credits include Beheading Columbus, The Bowels, Webster’s Bitch, and Timebomb at the National Women’s Theater Festival, Almost, Maine at Texas State University, The Vagina Monologues with Queer Theater Texas, and Cabaret (Assistant Director) at Texas State University.
Dedicated to activism and arts advocacy, Kaycee was the lead organizer for CMUDramaVotes24, a Carnegie Mellon School of Drama initiative that helped students register to vote and make a plan to vote. In 2020, she produced virtual fundraiser cabarets supporting social justice initiatives and benefiting organizations such as Georgia Stand Up, Black Lives Matter, the National Organization for Women, and Arts for Biden/Harris. Kaycee holds a BFA in Acting from Texas State University, whose Theater Program is ranked #25 globally by The Hollywood Reporter.
